IMEC hosted a Fireside Chat with 2 Ontario Cabinet Ministers, Hon. Nina Tangri, Associate Minister for Small Business and Hon. Nolan Quinn, Minister for Colleges, Universities, Research and Security, at Mississauga Convention Centre on Thursday, October 16. Topics included the current turmoil in higher education sector especially a major drop in international students at our colleges and universities, what long term opportunity can emerge from the current challenges, bogus colleges being used just to secure visas and later work permits, investing in R & D, how small businesses are coping with the current uncertainties and slowdown in the Canadian economy, corporate subsidies and checking ROIs on those Govt subsidies, layoffs and job losses etc. Close to 70 invited guests participated enthusiastically.
